Chuck Hayes Birthday

Notice the sun shining a little brighter today? It’s because one of the most beloved players in UK history turns 25 today and you might as well spend the rest of the night celebrating. Chuck Hayes selected UK over Kansas and came to Lexington in 2001 as somewhat of an unknown in a recruiting class including McDonald’s All-American Rashaad Carruth, Kentucky Mr. Basketball Josh Carrier and Ballard’s Adam Chiles. Despite being a Parade All-American and California’s Mr. Basketball, ESPN ranked Hayes as the 83rd overall player in the class and the 18th best small forward behind a group of players who don’t exactly get your blood pumping. And, in case you were living in a cave for the past seven years…

All Hayes did at UK was win 81% of the games he played in while posting career averages of 9 ppg and 6.8 rpg and providing the steady leadership and hustle that made him a fan favorite. In his time in Lexington, Hayes tied Alex Groza for the record for most games started by a Wildcat (110) and was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team, all three All-SEC teams, the SEC Tournament Team, the NCAA All-Region team and earned 2004 SEC Defensive Player of the Year Honors. He also played on the 2003 Pan-Am Games team. Hayes finished his career ranked 7th in rebounds, 8th in steals, 9th in blocked shots, and 35th in points. After leaving Kentucky, Hayes was named as the MVP of the Portsmouth pre-draft camp, but went undrafted. But, in typical Hayes fashion, he led the NBDL in rebounding (12.2) for about half a season and then earned a spot on the Rockets where he has become a fixture in their rotation.

Ferrakohn Hall taked about the Elite Camp this week and said he has Kentucky up on top of list for now mainley because of Billy Gillispie. Hall a 4 star prospect on Rivals.com is nearing his decision. Can't wait

Holliday Fastest College player ever?

Trindon Holliday is fast! In fact, the LSI Tigers say he’s the fastest player in college football history. Not the fastest guy in the nation, the fastest college football player ever!

They point to the 10.02 he ran in the 100 meters and say, “since no other college football player has ever done that, he’s the fastest to ever play the game”. Of course, that’s “classic SEC sabre rattling” meant to fire up the Tiger nation and keep Urban Meyer up a little later every night devising ways to slow Holliday down. Fastest ever?! Who knows?! Classic “blurs” like: Devin Hester, Joey Galloway and "Rocket" Ismail never ran track. They were too busy “smoking” safeties to pass the baton or hit the tape!

Miami might Play Kentucky

I found a report on ESPN.com that Miami will play Kentucky in Basketball next season. Kentucky also has to play Kansas Sate, Iowa, and West Virginia. Thats a good list of teams to play at the start of the year.

UK Names Gary Henderson Baseball Head Coach

I don't know who this guy is cause I don't keep up with baseball especially college. But congrats to Kentucky of finding a new coach. Also I have heard that thye are recruiting the #1 Pitcher in the nation and that he is really close of making his decision soon. Can't wait to see what will happen although I don't care about baseball.

Joe Dumars Names Michael Curry as Pistons Head Coach

It's official Michel Curry is The Pistons new Head Coach.

"The Associated Press reports the Pistons have hired assistant coach and former player Michael Curry as their new head coach.The Pistons have scheduled a news conference for noon tomorrow at the Palace of Auburn Hills.Curry was an assistant on Flip Saunders' staff last season, his first stint as a coach of any kind.Last Tuesday, president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said at that newsconference that the team would move quickly on hiring a new coach.According to the Associated Press, Curry agreed to a three-year deal worth $2.5 million a year guaranteed with the team holding the option for a fourth season.A former co-captain for the Pistons, Curry played in Detroit from 1996-97 and 1999-2003. He's a former teammate of Dumars and several current Pistons, including Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince."Via The Detroit Free Press

Mike Williams going to Duquesne

Looks like another cat is leaving Kentucky. Mike Williams is leaving Kentucky to Duquesne. I dont blame him. He is not going to play for Billy Gillispie. He was for tubby but that ship has sailed. This guy I heard, gave 110% this last year to not only have playing time but be a better persone. This guy is going to do great things at this school. He better cause it sounds like a geeky college. Good for him.
